Bonjour

I am now on holiday in France with Clumpton and Mrs. Clumpton. Well, they’re not actually married, they live in sin. It’s disgusting, a moral outrage, Daily Mail readers of the world unite!

Expect regular pictorial updates here

As an aside, I hope you’ll all be tuning in to our radio show on Tuesday at 9pm UK time [NOTE, this has been changed from 8pm as previously advised] at UK Nova.

Expect more posts soon.

Eurovision 2008

Well…….

The UK were “enthusiastic”, shame the song was shit.

Turkey was very very good, Poland absolutely dreadful.

France should have won. Great song.

Again, block voting was what counts. Ex-USSR countries voting for Russia, who they supposedly couldn’t wait to get away from, was a bit of a surprise. I can’t see a reasonable way of avoiding this.

I know none of the EBU countries want to host it. But.. wouldn’t it be nice if we picked a good, well known, UK group next year?

Several updates all rolled into one

Yeah, I’ve been lazy… so you get it all in one go.

I was asked today if I was disappointed by Orient’s performance this season. In a nutshell - no. We started off really well but were in no threat of relegation so that’s better than last season. I’ll take that. I would like to see us pushing for a play-off place next season but, then again, there are lots of things I’d like to see.

New web site - Angry of Havering - I care very much about where I was brought up and this sums up the ridiculous stuff that goes on there. Some would call it corruption and pocket lining.

I have my photo collections from 2006 online here.

I’m off to France on 6th June for 10 days. Orders for Gaperon and proper French mustard are being taken now. Don’t miss out.

Congratulations!

Big congrats from OrientFan Towers to Steve and Jess on the birth of Emma at 12:09 today.

Methinks the beers are going to be on him tomorrow night. Depending on the venue mine’s either a Guinness, Tyskie, Okocim or Lech.

Pushing Daisies Alert!

ITV1, Saturday night at 9pm. It’s utterly fantastic. Pick a cozy spot on the sofa and enjoy!

Weymouth v Grays

Tonight I sauntered on down to Weymouth FC. They were playing Grays, pretty much the second nearest ‘proper’ football team to where I reside when in Essex. Weymouth [Weymuff] needed the win as they are staring relegation in the face and Grays could have done with a win to help their slim play-off chances.

Grays used route one far too often and were much better playing it to feet. Weymuff were poor defensively but were ‘enthusiastic’.

It ended up 1-1 and I think my one line above summed it up. Pretty forgettable stuff but I do love my footy. I was one of the, count them [I did at half time], seventeen away fans but after ten minutes I was shouting and swearing with the rest of them. At the final whistle I was very happy indeed that I didn’t have to do the three hour car journey back like they did.

Will probably be going to next Tuesday’s home match again Droylsden. I fancy the home end this time. W-E-Y-M-U-F-F

M25 “Traffic Updates”

At what point during telling me that it was closed between J6 & 7 clock-wise did BBC travel not think about mentioning that there was a 14 mile tailback on the anti-clockwise section between 10 and 6 and that they had shut one of the Dartford Tunnels? For those of you that aren’t aware it means 16 lanes of traffic have to get into two lanes within 400 metres.

My TomTom quite enjoyed telling me that me ETA was 20:15 [fair enough, a smooth run is three hours], then 21:00, then 21:45 then 22:14, then 22:30.

Another F1 season is upon us

It’s now 01:50, and I promised myself I wouldn’t stay up for the “stupid o’clock” ones this season but I can’t help myself. It’s particularly stupid knowing that I have a three hour drive at 6pm tonight but I love F1. Hamilton on pole but the changes in fuelling credits for the last stage in qualifying will be interesting to say the least. I expect a strong showing from the BMW’s, It’s very hard to call this race as it’s the first one of the season.

So it will be back to bed at 6am-ish. Methinks some complaining in Essex will ensue. I also now know my family now read this blog. Hello family!!

I am currently watching the “100 Greatest Stand-up Comedians” on E4+1. Truly shocking classifications. Bill Hicks must be in the top five but apparently not. I suggest you read “American Scream”, his biography. I have it in the boot of my car if you want to borrow it. Billy Connoly is number one. FFS.

Northern Rock

I have been discussing something with lil’ Miss OrientFan [tm. pat. pend.] this evening. We both came across it [so to speak] at different times. And, dear readers, take some time out to look it up yourself. Wikpedia is an accurate source of info on this ‘last section - Nationalisation’

Basically, all the ‘good’ mortgage book has been passed on to a mysterious organisation called “Granite” that is supposedly a charitable trust but has never donated any money to the charity it is supposed to help. Unless the decent mortgage book continues to be passed on to Granite they can call in their £45 billion pound loan to Northern Rock.

For once, I’m going to make you do the work. I’ve read enough tonight on this, it is outrageous and apart from Channel 4 news mentioning it about a week ago, has not been mentioned once on mainstream news.

So WE are funding the offshore company. FFS, I was bad at handling finances [and on Tuesday discovered I had transferred more than I thought to Egg so have no food money, one pack of fags and had my last three cans of Stella tonight], but this is an absolute disgrace. What is the Government doing, anyone would think that there are members of the government with some sort of interest in Granite. I, obviously, do not think that. I don’t exactly have teams of lawyers I can pay for ;-)

Dexter “I am a buffoon” update

I forgot to mention that episode 1 was the pilot and does not have the outstanding opening title sequence or outrageously good music. Nice to see ITV1 didn’t censor any of it, as much as I could tell. Well, I hope you liked it and if you are unsure, please just stick with the next couple of episodes.
