Tonight I sauntered on down to Weymouth FC. They were playing Grays, pretty much the second nearest ‘proper’ football team to where I reside when in Essex. Weymouth [Weymuff] needed the win as they are staring relegation in the face and Grays could have done with a win to help their slim play-off chances.
Grays used route one far too often and were much better playing it to feet. Weymuff were poor defensively but were ‘enthusiastic’.
It ended up 1-1 and I think my one line above summed it up. Pretty forgettable stuff but I do love my footy. I was one of the, count them [I did at half time], seventeen away fans but after ten minutes I was shouting and swearing with the rest of them. At the final whistle I was very happy indeed that I didn’t have to do the three hour car journey back like they did.
Will probably be going to next Tuesday’s home match again Droylsden. I fancy the home end this time. W-E-Y-M-U-F-F
